The former location of OW Pizza, a favorite spot of many State Capitol workers, has sat vacant several years now with many failed attempts to fill the location. It appears it finally has a new tenant with Fresh, a new breakfast and lunch spot focusing on fresh, local, and organic ingredients.
Owners Phillip Naylor and Pam Jones say the space will feature as much local and organic produce as possible with bread from Arkansas Fresh Bakery. Breakfast will feature a limited selection of breakfast pizzas, cinnamon rolls, and homemade pop-tarts. Lunch will be a wider selection of pizzas, homemade soups, sandwiches, and a salad bar.
“We wanted to have a place where you can get in and have a fresh lunch made in under 15 minutes for $10,” Naylor tells us. “We will have various sandwiches on the menu, enough toppings to make a meat lovers or supreme pizza (or any variation using those toppings), soups, salads, and occasional Facebook specials.”
Naylor, who is a nurse by trade, says he has wanted to create a space like this since he was 12 and partnered with Jones to make the vision a reality. He wanted to focus on healthy and quick food saying after he went through a large weight loss he had a difficult time finding something quick to eat in the city that was not high-calorie fast food.
Fresh hopes to open in early May for breakfast and lunch Monday thru Friday with a soft opening sometime before. The space will also feature a private dinning area that can be rented out for meetings and small events.
