Welcome to Growlers: your weekly roundup of news, events and specials from Little Rock’s breweries and taprooms. Little Rock’s beer scene is growing and improving at a rapid pace, and we’re dedicated to keeping you up to speed on all of it. Here’s what’s happening this week:
The biggest beer event of the week will take place at Rebel Kettle Brewing Company on Thursday. Nine Arkansas brewers are coming together on a collaboration brew for the Ales for ALS campaign. It’s an annual tradition that is now in its fourth year with Little Rock beermakers. This year’s brew is a Hoppy Lager, a traditional American light adjunct lager that’s first hopped and then dry-hopped to give it some tropical flavors while staying light and drinkable. Most importantly, proceeds from every pint go toward ALS research. The Hoppy Lager will be released at 4:30 on Thursday at Rebel Kettle. I urge you to be there to support both Little Rock’s brewing community and a worthy cause. In addition, Rebel Kettle will hold its usual Growler Tuesday with a beer called Blood Sin, a blood orange blonde ale brewed with ginger and cinnamon.
The weather may not feel like it, but fall is just around the corner, and Flyway Brewing is getting an early release on its fall seasonal brew. On Friday at 4 p.m., Flyway will put its new Pumpkin Ale on tap. Coming in at 6.5 percent ABV, this ale is a Munich and caramel malt brewed with mild pumpkin and light spice. It will only be available in the taproom. While you’re there, checkout Flyway’s new merchandise, including new logo t-shirts, that are available to purchase.
Lost Forty’s Cave City Watermelon brew last week was popular enough that the brewery decided to keep the theme going. This week’s fresh cut series is the effervescently named Watermelon Bubble Gum Ale. The brew blends Lost Forty’s Day Drinker and summer saison beers with juice from Cave City Watermelons for what promises to be a refreshing session ale. That beer will be released Monday at 4 p.m.
Superior Bathhouse has two new beers on tap this week. The Hot Springs brewery has released its Arlington Lawn Saison, a light beer at 5.4 percent ABV. And that same saison serves as the base for Even More Grandma, which is infused with lavender for a unique flavor. Both of those beers will be available in the taproom by this weekend.
Stone’s Throw Brewing will release its new SGP ESB as part of its regular New Release Friday series. Of course, every Thursday night is #ArkiePubTrivia night at 6:30 p.m., which is a night that no trivia fan should miss.
